Did the iOS 6.1.3 help the battery drain issue.

The iOS 6.1.3 may have help with the problem. Is there anyone still having battery issue.

I have to say with my 7500 sounds 50 or so apps and hundreds of pictures I get with wifi on over day happily. I leave apps in the background unless they run like sklype for instance when closed. I have done this for many years now, the only time I had battery issues was with a malfunctioning phone. If you think a 64Gb iPhone is designed to be empty, then Apple would not buld such devices. Please dont spread FUD when the information is there for all to see.

Battery life all depends on your location, usage needs, cellphone network technology (CDMA, GSM, LTE, HSPA+, etc)

When travelling:

CDMA nukes battery life when traversing cities because of the baseband connectivity demands

GSM/HSPA will disconnect more often when hopping between out of range cells.

LTE, I cannot answer that presently as my location in Europe does not have it.

Even though Apple says 10 hour battery life, I get up to 14 hours or merely 7 hours on my iPhone, it all depends on what I am doing, whether I'm travelling all over Europe, or messaging many people, mapping my progress across the state, and lastly organizing an events and looking up information.

Just that I have mentioned will use more battery than applications in the background.

With my iPhone 5 running 6.1.2 (now 6.1.3) I get:

1 day with "lots of" use.

2 days with moderate use.

3 days with very light use.

I let the apps accumulate in the tray because AFAIK they are suspended and need no power (unless they are background apps like Skype or navigation apps which can draw a lot of battery while using the GPS).

CPU monitoring apps show about 95-97% idle regardless if I let the tray be full or if I empty it. I have planned to try how long the phone lasts on standby mode with the tray full vs empty but then I'd have to left it untouched for three days... And even then the mobile network itself might produce its own variations to the battery life.

Monitoring apps also show that eventhough the app is listed in the tray, it is automatically removed from the Activity monitor -like list if it is not recently used.

So it seems there is no benefit of emptying the tray as some people have a habit of doing. Of course emptying the tray and a reboot can be tried when troubleshooting.

I wish there was a monitoring app that could display how much each process uses the CPU. Now it is only possible to check System (usually 0%), User (3-5% when idling) and Idle times. Apparently this is not possible without jailbreaking at the moment.

Lawrence, I have read and tried your strategies to no avail. Fwiw I have tried them and had them work in the past (setup as new phone and not from a restore right after Iphone 5 launch when there was alos a battery drain issue) but everything you suggest to counter the 6.1.1/.2 issues has failed for me. With 6.1.3, installed with a "set up as new" (which really ****** me off in particular b/c I lose my shazam tags) my battery life has drained just as if not more aggresively, it seems, than under 6.1.2.

I respect your analysis and your efforts on these solutions (as well as those of others), but they genuinely are not working for everyone. I used to go from 7 am to 11 pm daily, with aggressive use, and was unable to drain my battery. This was working as intended and mirrored my experience on the 4. After the 6.1.1 update I am lucky if I get 5 hours of usage total, even with LTE turned off, and my battery is in the 20% rage by 5 pm. The difference is so evident it's shocking.

So I believe there is something genuinely wrong here that 6.1.3 did not fix and that the the delete exchange solutions, etc., do not remedy either. I was reading on another forum that the USDOD just purchased all of these IOS devices from Apple...I'm an Apple loyalist but given this recent performance I'd tell the governement to skip the deal and my friends to look at a Galaxy.

I had the same battery drain issues after installing the 6.1.2 update over wifi (poor battery life and my phone was running hot), I assume the installation was corrupt.

I was able to correct it by using the following steps.

1. Connect to my computer and take a complete back up

2. Restore to new (this actually downloaded the full 6.1.2 update and installed it on my phone)

3. Restored my phone from back up

I had to update several apps that must not had installed correctly after the 6.1.1 or 6.1.2 updates I made over wifi.

I haven't had any trouble since doing this. I plan to install any new updates via iTunes.

I know most of you are pretty technical from reading your post, but I wanted to post a simple, possible solution for someone searching the posts for help that isn't as technical.
