Evanxu,

RAW support is integrated into Mac OS X. When Apple releases an OS update that also includes RAW file support for new cameras all applications that process RAW files are subsequently enabled. As a Nikon user since the D300, I've seen previous RAW file support from Apple for new cameras within a month or two of a new Nikon. It makes sense that Apple most likely releases RAW supoport for Mac OS X in batches, and not every time a new camera hits the market. Since the D7100 began shipping the week of March 18, I don't expect a Mac OS X update that inlcudes RAW file support for the new Nikon until April or May. This is merely the nature of the beast. I only shoot in RAW, so I'll wait on my purchase of the D7100 untill it's supported in Mac OS X.

I'm an Apple guy, big time. We have 5 iPhones, 5 iPads, Airport Extreme, Airport Express, MacBook Pro, yada, yada, yada....

Here's the deal though - this secrecy stuff is getting old. Other companies like Adobe are showcasing their goods well before they're released (i.e. beta programs). The Final Cut Pro debacle and now the Aperture FAIL is a bit too much for me. Wondering what will be in Aperture 4, the next iOS, when they might be released, the cost of the new iMac and Macbook line, etc... is making me think twice about staying loyal to Apple.

The bottom line is Adobe is doing it right and catering to a community of creative folks by listening to their customers and delviering feature rich products that are in sync with what end users are asking for. They do software, and they do it well.

I'm not a professional photographer by any means, but I am impressed with what Lightroom has to offer. So much in fact that I haven't opened Aperture in over a month.

Clean it up Apple, clean it up.

Makes me sick how long it takes for the worlds most profitable, richest computer/software company to do a simple compatibility update for their already neglected series of Apps.

People have been talking about Aperture 4 11 months ago, everyone was "ooh I bet it will be announced with Mountain Lion", "oooh I'm sure it's around the corner"... 11 months ago folks... that's a long time to wait for an update.

Just like their iLife is practically a joke these days.

Such a massive disappointment in a company... it's rare I've ever felt it so much as I do for this one. You betrayed me Apple and I'm sorry I ever worked for you and did your dirty work for you...

Shameful...

I installed RAW compatibility update 4.06 and not only did Apeture recognize newly uploaded .NEF raw files from my D71000, it also recognized the previous .NEF files that I had imported into Apeture that were in the Apeture Library but showed the "file format not recognized" message in the Apeture browser.

If you were using the Adobe DNG Converter workaround, you might want to check that you're importing from the correct location, and that your import settings are set to import raw images.

Also if you have some of those "unrecognized" images use the REPROCESS ORIGINAL command and they will come alive in your browser.

Hey guys, I'm a big Time apple fan. In fact I used my iPad and iPhone with my Airport Express and played music to my 2nd sone all weekend. Awesome technology working the way it should....

As far as photo editing goes Apple is waaaaay behind the curve. I've been using Lightroom for almost 6 weeks now and after installing the Aperture update I've come to the realization that photo editing is no longer apple's sweet spot. For me, I am no longer using a aperture for photo management. Sure, photo stream is nice, and I feel that the social media plugins are better on aperture, but when it comes down to skin tones, white balancing, spot correction, teeth whitening, skin smoothing, vignette, and photoshop integration there's no comparison. Lightroom wins hands down.

Judge for yourself. Peace.
