No. I sent a couple of feedbacks but very obviously the guys are far too busy with earning tons of money otherwise.

I'm used to two way conversations: DxO answered my request for D7100 support, Phase One as well. In less than 12 hours, by the way. Now I have my camera supported - not by Apple. They can become as arrogant as they want or need, sooner or later nobody will care anymore about their products. It is past-Steve-time and once they ate up all his ideas they will become meaningless again.

Anybody seen interesting products of them recently? Nothing new anymore.

Thats what we get for trusting a software made by a company that does not specialize in making that software... adobe's livelyhood depends on their creative software so they have to make constant updates to them.

Try this: Lightroom 5 is having a free beta test right now. Download and try it out! it does more or less what aperture does. Perhaps by the time the beta expires apple will have gotten around to releasing raw support 🙂

The 7.4 version of Adobe Camera Raw is available through MacUpdate. It's the beta. The Developer link there goes to Adobe's site, but there is no link to the beta plugin (weird). It's not in labs.adobe.com either, but the DNG converter is. ACR 7.4 beta does support the D7100, but alas, still nothing from Apple, so D7100 RAW files still don't open directly in Preview and other non-Adobe apps. Will try the exiftool hack.

I am going to China later this week and I am taking my D7100 and my D7000. I have been waiting almost 2 months for Apple to update their RAW compatibility. Apple really does not seem that serious about this software. While their penchant for secrecy has served them okay with certain products in this case it seems misplaced. There is a base that depnds on Aperture and significant numbers buy new cameras. When I come back I will make the jump to Lightroom.

Perhaps a little off-topic, but my only concern with Lightroom is whether or not Adobe will force us into a monthly service payment plan like they are doing with Adobe CC. There are a few cool features in Lightroom 5 with ACR 8, but will that be available in the App Store like Lightroom 4? I'd bet there won't be an upgrade path, but you'll have to buy the new app at the full price if not a monthly license.

You guys must all be very new to the Apple world. Let me explain it to you. You think you need D7100 support but you really don't. It is something you think you want, but you're just confused and being influenced by the marketing folks at Nikon. The proof that you don't need D7100 support is the fact that Apple doesn't provide it. There is likely something wrong with the D7100 NEF files. Once Nikon fixes this problem Apple will consider supporting it. I say consider, because it may still not be something you want or need. Apple will let you know if and when you really want it. At that time Apple will be the first company to provide "full" support for the D7100. When appropriate Apple will release the best version of Aperature ever designed. It will be stunning and unlike any version before it. The interface will be elegant, simple, and beautiful. It will be like nothing you've ever experienced before. You'll see.

Save it, bro.

The simple fact is, it's not possible to develop software for a camera that you don't have yet. So companies have to get actual cameras, develop a RAW converter, TEST it, QA it, release it, and they have to deal with the fact that there may be between 1 and 10 cameras a month with new RAW converters. As such, it may take a few weeks to a few months to support a new camera.

Practically, if you buy a BRAND NEW camera the day it's released, you may not be able to rely on a 3rd party RAW converter immediately after you get the camera. This isn't new; you can shoot RAW+JPEG for a bit if you MUST have a new camera the day it's released.
