Errors when using both RAM sticks

Hi there,

I'm having a wierd issue with the RAM sticks in my late '11 MacBook Pro.

I was suffering a lot of random kernel panics and decided to do a memory test after reading bad sticks are a prime cause for panics.

This is what happened when I ran the hardware test:

When I run the test on each stick individually it passes, even when I tried different ports thinking it might be a board issue.

When I run the test with both sticks in place I get a MEM error:

4MEM/60/40000000 0x829c2498

Any thoughts on what can cause this?

Thanks!

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

Are these the sticks that originally came with your machine, or did you upgrade yourself?

One thing's for certain - one or both of the sticks is bad.

If they're 'Apple' sticks and you're still under warranty, take your machine to your local Apple Store. If they're third-party, see if you can exchange the RAM.

Just to be clear - this is a set of 204-pin PC-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMMs?
