my phone has caught fire (iphone 4)

english : Ten days ago, my phone caught fire for no reason. It has burned furnitures in my house, which could have hurt my son and my wife who was using it. Apple doesn't want to compensate me for the damages on my furnitures and is accusing me of damaging the phone.

Does anyone around here is in my situation ? If so, what have you done ?

iPhone 4, iOS 6.1.2

iPhone batteries failing and catching fire are rare and almost every case of this happening can be traced back to a faulty repair by a 3rd party or using non-Apple replacement batteries.

There is nothing anyone here can do for you. Consult an attorney if you believe you have a claim.

Call AppleCare and ask to be transferred to Customer Service. You should have a reference number already from your sending the iPhone in, give them that number and go over the entire experience. I would write down the key points before you call them. Assure them you and no other unauthorized person have not opened the iPhone (you haven't had a third party open it have you?) and you are willing to submit an affadavit stating this. You might also want to ask what the engineers are basing their assertion on that you opened it.

After opening this dialogue tell Customer Service what would be a reasonable settlement to you.

If the above does not work, you are in the EU, you have government agencies that exist just to help you with this type of problem.

I have to disagree to your response to her. My phone caught fire while charging with authorized Apple charger and plug. Phone has never been damaged, wet, or dropped. Has always been well cared for by me, a responsible adult. Please read my post Iphone 4 catching fire for more info on my incident. I think it's happening fore often, now there are reports of 4S's, and 5C's catching fire.
