my phone has caught fire (iphone 4)

french :

Il y a 10 jour mon téléphone a pris feu sans aucune raison. Ce téléphone a brulé mon mobilier risquant de blessés mon fils et a failli brûler ma femme qui était en train de l’utiliser. Apple ne veut pas me dédommager et m’accuse d’avoir endommagé l’appareil.

Est-ce que quelqu'un s'est déjà retrouvé dans ma situation ? Si oui, quelles procédures avez-vous engagées ?

english : Ten days ago, my phone caught fire for no reason. It has burned furnitures in my house, which could have hurt my son and my wife who was using it. Apple doesn't want to compensate me for the damages on my furnitures and is accusing me of damaging the phone.

Does anyone around here is in my situation ? If so, what have you done ?

iPhone 4, iOS 6.1.2

iPhone batteries failing and catching fire are rare and almost every case of this happening can be traced back to a faulty repair by a 3rd party or using non-Apple replacement batteries.

There is nothing anyone here can do for you. Consult an attorney if you believe you have a claim.

Contact Apple using www.apple.com/support/contact if you are in a country that supports it or call the appropriate phone number on this page. I can just about guarantee you that they will want to hear about this, as Apple is always interested in the safety and health of their customers.

Did you or anyone else other than Apple replace the battery or otherwise open the phone casing for any reason?

I'm in France, the AppleCare told me to send to phone to the engineers in Ireland. When I call the technical support in ireland, they told me that I opened the phone (which I did not), and when I asked them why the phone caught fire they responded : "We don't know, it's the engineers' business, we're not aware of technical matters".

Then when I asked to talk to an engineer, I've been told that they can't be contacted.
