Does anyone have recent experience of getting a macbook air hinge replacement foc

I just tried to get my original MBA hinge repaired, but the Genius guy in Amsterdam said they stopped the replacement 1 1/2 years ago :-(

Would have been appreciated if Apple could update the original note to indicate the extended warranty on the hinge is no longer in effect.
