gmail not working with iOS 6.1.3 update

As soon as I updated my software today on the 4s, my gmail is not working. Is anyone else having this issue and how do I fix? Thanks

Same here. I have the error backing up, so I don't have any backups to use. Just trying to find time to get into the Genius bar to address that one because none of the online suggestions worked.

Then I noticed that I wasn't able to login to my G+ app. I figured that had something to do with my application-specific password, but I tried that and it directed me to use my regular password. Same thing, try to login and it dumps me back out to the home screen.

Now I upgrade my iOS to 6.1.3 and my Gmail (that I rely on *heavily*) won't work?

There is something kinky going on here.

I just called the Apple store and they said it's a Google issue, not an Apple issue. Google has reconfigured their settings somehow and now it's not compatible with the upgrade.

I have logged in to Gmail via Safari and set up a 'shortcut' on my home screen. I have also sent an email to Google in hopes for an answer as to when the reconfiguring will take place since I can't access my email or calendars from my phone now.

Did you have gmail set up as an Exchange account? If so, that may explain it. Google terminated support for Exchange Active Sync. They stated that existing iOS devices already configured to use gmail as Exchange would continue to work, but no new setups were allowed.

Apparently, that looks like it's treating (at least some) updated devices as if they were new installations.

Update on my saga - I ended up going to the "genius" bar. My genius blamed Google's 2-step verification on the fact that gmail wasn't working (not true since it worked before the iOS update and several coworkers have had no issues despite using 2-step and updating). He blamed my inability to create a backup on the exchange profile my company setup for work email (again, not true since the same coworkers who had no problems with the update and 2-step also had no problems creating backups despite also having exchange profiles like mine). In the end, the genius completely wiped out my phone, performing a factory reset from one of the store's computers since we couldn't get it to work from my computer. I wasn't happy about starting from zero but at least my phone is fully functional again (for now).

PS - I was not using an exchange account; I was using IMPA.

I was able to figure it out with the help of an IT friend. I actually had to "force" the Gmail account through the "Other" email option:

This is what he had me do to get my Gmail account reinstalled on my iPhone 4s:

Try this: Delete the Gmail configuration from your iPhone (yet again). Add

it back in. But, this time, instead of choosing Gmail as the account type,

choose Other.

Additional information you'll need:

* Type: IMAP

* Incoming server: imap.gmail.com

* Outgoing server: smtp.gmail.com

* Outgoing mail: authenticate (yes)

* Account name: (your full email address, with the @gmail.com on the end)

I also had issue with my Google Calendar, same thing:

As for the Google Calendar, set it up this way:

https://blogs.oracle.com/chienr/entry/configuring_caldav_on_iphone_3

It's an old article, but the content is still valid. Seems to match my

phone config. The Google Sync mention is the no-longer-supported option.

* Username: (your full gmail address, with the @gmail.com at the end)

* Use SSL (on)

* Port 443

Good luck to others with the same issue! I hope this works for you like it did for me!!
