iOS 6.1.3 battery drainage

Last night I updated my iPhone 4S to a iOS 6.1.3 and now it drains my battery in extremely fast manner. As I started signing in to write this question from my iPhone I already lost 13% of my battery. I never had a problem with a battery and ive been using iphones since the first one. i miss my morning class because of it because my alarm clock didn't because my phone was dead. Please fix it or have no choice but buy Samsung GS4

Yes, on by default.

You've definitely turned off push in all areas of the phone? Inc the new advanced section in 6.1.3? Mail > turn off push and change fetch to manual. Then go to advanced and change from push to manual.

If you've got chrome installed try logging out of your google account.

I wish Apple would show has battery stats. At least that way we could see what was draining our battery.

Do you leave wifi on and connected? I'm wondering if not, maybe a weak 3G signal is doing it?

Also just to acknowledge the troll who keeps saying Chrome is off topic. 1. All any of us care about is a fix, whether that's a setting or an app change or something else.

2. Maybe Chrome worked fine prior to 6.1.3 but now there is an incompatibility. Or perhaps Chrome updated around the same time as 6.1.3 and we are wrongly blaming 6.1.3.

The fact is, there are likely several different bugs causing battery drain. That's why not all of us can find a solution.

But my guess is that nearly all of them are caused by data. I.e data trying to send or sync and getting stuck in a loop that kills the battery. I've noticed on days that the iCloud backup didn't compete overnight, my battery does faster. Odd.

My partner didn't have Chrome installed. So I installed it last night and logged in to my account with sync on. And sure enough his battery started to drain. He doesn't have a Google account so I couldn't tell if it was specific to my account or not.

Everybody should also ensure they've turned off Push in the advanced mail section for your iCloud account.

If it were me, and none of this worked, I'd take my phone to the Apple store and request a new phone.

I really wish Apple would publically acknowledge these issues and at least tell us that they're working on a fix.

Final thought, I picked up a Mophie air juice pack case from Apple the other day, it's great and gives me almost an extra 100% charge. It adds some bulk but looks cool and makes me feel safe I.e. I don't worry about using my battery.

Don't buy via Amazon, it's full of fake Mophies, I purchased 2 prior to getting it via Apple.

I keep checking several times a day for 6.1.4 update. Anybody else do that? :D

If you, at any time, hit Yes when an app asked you to use Location, then it turns Location Services ON. Even if initially you disabled it.

Saying YES at any time will then turn on all System Location Services.

At some point you said YES to location and that's why it was ON. It won't turn on by itself.

If you go to General - Reset - Reset All Settings, it will reset everything to factory default and Location Services will be OFF. Because it didn't ask you the Default setting for it is OFF.

The only thing to do is when you fully charge it, hard reset it and let it reboot. That's about all you can do.

Also. iCloud has always been crap, so if you don't need it, Delete the account.

Push doesn't make any difference in my experience. System Locations had an issue a while ago that I experienced where I could see the Location icon show up all the time. I just turned off all System Location. For me it was the one for Time Zone. Now I just keep locations off. Don't need it anyway.

The only thing I got wrong, was that location services were on by default. But to most of us, we restore from our previous iPhones and don't see the setup screen. As it goes, you were right about location services, but that's about the only thing in this entire thread.

AND GUESS WHAT? Whether it's on by default or not, is completely irrelevant and doesn't help ANYBODY!!!!!

But sure enough, you make 6 posts in a row about it, because you're here to do nothing but cause trouble.

Why is there no report user feature here. 😠

Because I agreed with somebody that location services were on by default, honestly doesn't embarrass me. If anybody should be embarrassed, it's you.

At the time when I said I was going to ignore you, I had no idea you were actually going to keep talking about me and trolling me days later, I find that a bit creepy. So no, I'm not going to allow you to keep trolling every post I make and let you get away with it.

And I am going to report you for harrasment. Your trolling is effecting my enjoyment of these forums, you could have just ignored everything I said, but instead you trolled my posts. But my report shouldn't worry you, because you're getting an S4 soon 🙂

I was really hoping that 6.1.4 was gonna come out this month! Guess not...b.s. off topic, do u think Apple will make a 16g iPod touch? I think it would increase the sale of the new iPod touch. Lower price, more people may spend $200.00 not $298 ?...32g for me is way to much! I never understood why people put like 2000 songs on it? How can u listen to all that?

Battery drain issue is still bad on my ipad mini... :(
