iOS 6.1.3 battery drainage

it you have no email account, have everything turned off, and still having battery drain, you may want to tra my solution posted on page two. Has anyone?

Worked for me....

After updating my 4s to ios 6.1.3 i have issues like:

1. it drains my battery in extremely fast manner. Even when I'm not using my phone, the battery percentage

is dropping by the minute.

2. sound function was broken!! There's no sound on speaker unless ringtone is only work

I have turned off all notifications,

I deleted facebook app from my phone,

I deleted my email acct(Yahoo) and also my icloud acct.

I did all the above when i had ios 6.1.2

I keep data off as im on wi-fi all the time...

I've had the same problem on my 4s since updating to 6.1.2. Now have 6.1.3, and it's no better.

Help!!!.. If i cant back up my phone what abt the data on my phone??

I restored as a new device yesterday. All was well with the battery, but after all the apps were installed (through wifi as suggested), the freaking vampire disease came back out of nowhere and sucked my battery dry again. I guess it's one of my apps? I don't know. Gonna reboot again. :( shiznit

I have upgraded to 6.1.3 still facing extensive battery drain even when I am not using the phone..

I have tried removing all the email accounts and used it for 24hrs still battery was draining.. '

Its high time that apple fixes this issues..

I have an iPhone 5 and am now experiencing fast battery drain immediately following the update to iOS 6.1.3. I have never had problems with my battery in the past, and actually found the charge to go further than what my iPhone 4 did; regardless of what critcisms have been directed at the iPhone battery. I have never written on the forums before, but this issue takes such a dramatic toll on the use of my phone that I felt I should. Fingers crossed apple address it soon or at least allow a roll-back to 6.1.2.

Good observation. This means that some app is running continuously in background. You need to figure out which app it is and kill it. Start by killing all of the apps in the Quick Launch ribbon. If the problem persists it is a built in app, most likely Mail if you have a Push account such as MS Exchange, iCloud, Hotmail, or Yahoo. Go to Settings/Mail,Contacts,Calendars, tap on the name of any Push accounts and turn off all of the switches (mail, contacts, calendar, notes, etc). Then reboot the phone by holding HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears. Finally go back into settings and turn the switches back on.

This process will kill any pending transmissions that are failing and retrying.

I agree that the post was a bit out of line, but the problem is NOT with the latest update, unless by "latest update" you mean every update that has ever come out. If it was a problem with the latest update everyone would have it, which is clearly not the case. Every one of the people in the threads listed below were convinced that the problem was with the "latest update", whether than update was this month or 5 years ago.

The evidence points to the problem being in the PROCESS of updating, not what you update to.

DarylR, that what the forum if for. People like their Apple products, that's why we buy them, but finding solutions to problems faced is the whole point of this forum.....

Something that everyone would like to know, me included. This has happened to me twice after an upgrade in 5 1/2 years. That's about two dozen upgrades. So based on my experience there's a 7% chance of it happening (which is totally bogus statistically, because the sample size of 1 is too small). But I've also had sudden battery drain problems several times not associated with any update, all of them fixed by turning off my Exchange email account and rebooting.

I think you could minimize the chance of it happening by killing 3rd party apps, and doing the update at a time when there is a low probability of incoming Push email (or perhaps turn off Push before updating). Note that you cannot kill the mail app; if you try it just restarts in background (but without showing in the Quick Launch bar).

I am having the same issue. I upgraded my phone to the new iOS 6.1.3 over the weekend, and noticed that my battery is draining faster then when iOS 6.1 came out. I have had to charge my phone four times a day, when I normally charge it twice a day (once at noon, and once at night). This is starting to be a headache. I thought that this lastest update was going to fix this issue, but it made it worst.

If you read some of the messages in the thread you posted to you will learn how to fix it.

Just a quick message to the naysayers who are giving us a hard time for complaining....I started my own post off (and this one branched from it) because I read a review saying that 6.1.3 was great and the author based that in part on the fact that the Apple community message boards were empty of complaints about battery usage. If this is a legitimate venue for expressing our dissatisfaction with a product, then no one has the right to criticize our complaints. We have all paid good money for this phone and apps and we expect it to work as promised. It's called a contractual agreement between buyer and manufacturer. If my usage behavior has not changed, but my battery condition changes after an upgrade to the OS, then by default the upgrade caused the problem.

I have the same issue. it seems that with each ios update battely life will get worse. I wonder if changing battery willl solve this issue.

I understand what the forum is for, but to continue to go over and over the same problem is ridiculous. There are solution for the problem out there and some on this forum. If the solutions are not working for you take the device to a Apple store and let them look at it. The iPhone has a small battery in it, try not to overcharge the battery I have read some leave there iPhone charging overnight that is not good you with destroy your battery that way. You should only charge the battery to a 100 percent in drain to 0 percent once a month. The battery are design to hold a charge at 80 percent. You only get a 1000 cycles on drain and 100 percent over the battery lifespan.

Just a follow up.

1st Step: I deleted my iCloud email account

2nd: I turned off all the details on my other email accounts. (As mentioned at page 1)

3rd: Hard Reset (Holding home button + switch)

4th: Turn on. (While crossing fingers)

Worked for me, for at least 10 minutes now.

Still trying to observe if there will be a drop.

Note that I don't have an exchange account and I'm using iPhone 4S.
