Q: iOS 6.1.3 battery drainage

Last night I updated my iPhone 4S to a iOS 6.1.3 and now it drains my battery in extremely fast manner. As I started signing in to write this question from my iPhone I already lost 13% of my battery. I never had a problem with a battery and ive been using iphones since the first one. i miss my morning class because of it because my alarm clock didn't because my phone was dead. Please fix it or have no choice but buy Samsung GS4

Ten days ago, I purchased a new ATT  4s to replace my cracked 4 (which still worked fine, just tired of reading thru the cracks) When I went to sync, I updated to the new ios.  I had a week of reading these boards and trying all the tricks to understand why the battery was draining so fast. I did 2 restores.  I turned off everything, did hard resets, etc.  I went back to the Best Buy a few days ago and exchanged for a new phone. I synced and restored but did not update to the new ios. Everything is now back to normal.  I am running all I used to run on the 4, am back to backing up in the cloud, and generally just using a smartphone the way it should be used.  I am so happy! There must be a problem with 6.1.3.  I will still run 6.1.2.  Good luck everybody.

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news but I tried that a week back and no results

I'm thinking it's something else constantly trying to get 3g/internet access and that's causing our phones to be constantly "on" and draining battery. I've spent the last couple weeks trying to figure it out but no luck yet.

PS Why is everyone talking a out 3G using 4G phones? Also although you can turn 3G off they took that feature off 4g phones! As noted even Airplane doesn't turn 4g seek off!

Maybe that is part of problemif so we need to be able to turn it off!

Not all networks support 4G and thus the iPhone displays no 4G settings. Only 3G.

I installed iOS 6.1.3. yesterday, and now I am experiencing batterry drainage. I had to charge my iphone 4s twice in 12 hours. Previosuly the battery lasted 24 hours.  What a shame for Apple.

I solved my battery drainage.   I bought a Mophie Juice Pack Air case for my iPhone5.     If the phone dies, I flip a switch and I have 8 more hours or so.

That's not solving it. The problem still exists. It just isn't an annoyance to you anymore.

I had the same problem when i upgraded to 6.1.3. Battery lasted less than 5 hours after full recharge even when phone is on standby. The problem has to do with the mailboxes. I have disabled all mail accounts and the drain has slowed down considerably to about 1% per hour in standby mode. Try that, it is a temp solution before Apple comes with an upgrade that solves the problem.

As always, there are multiple issues that effect battery. So one fix won't solve every bodies problems.

Earlier I turned push off from mail, contacts and calendars and also on the advanced section.

At that point my battery was at 52% and I had 2 hours 15 mins useage.

Now my battery is at 40% and I have 4 hours 9 minutes usage.

It's too early to tell, but so far my battery life appears better. 48% got me just over 2 hours and now 12% has got me just over 2 hours.

Since 6.1.3 my battery has been dead within 4-5 hours usage. Now it looks as though its going to last a fair bit longer.

    Ill update the thread tomorrow.

That's a pretty dang good battery life. I'm at 1 hour 34 mins and 59% and all I've done is some light surfing.

I'll try the turning all mail accounts off thing and get back at you.

You should download sys activity manager and tell me if your phone gets really hot. According to the app my phone is always in the "red" section which might be overrheating the battery.

I am now getting 90 minutes usage per 20% battery. Which is a **** site better.

It seems my issue was related to the push settings in 6.1.3.

Fwiw I don't have any mail accounts as I use the Gmail app. I've turned push off on the mail, contacts and calendar settings. And in advanced I turned it off for my iCloud account.
