My iPod got wet

Ok, so Today, I put my ipod on my window sill cause it was dry(so I thought), and then it started raining outside. A few hours later, I reached for my ipod and it was drenched! I turned it on and it had the unhappy face on it, and then the do not dissconnect,then the dead battery sign. After that I shook it and most of the water came out. Then the apple screen shows up and it has been there for a few hours now. I press buttons and nothing happens. I press them again, but this time I put the ipod to my ear and I can hear the hard drive operating still. I dont want to waste more money to get a new one. So what should I do? please help me.....I love me ipod........... Oh just for your info, it is a video ipod....

I haven't had a need to use them.

People have recommended the service here many times before and I have never heard anything negative about it.

Your iPod is an electronic device. It got wet. Water and iPods don't work together that well.

Your iPod will need to be repaired.

I would try sending it to Apple first. Btabz seems to know his stuff, but he's not an Apple rep, and only they can tell you if it's damaged beyond repair or not. If the iPod doesn't look physically damaged, they'll likely replace it. I just wouldn't go about mentioning the whole part about it getting wet.

If it is a 5g iPod with video you should still be in the one year Warranty peroid, if it is a covered problem.

my dad got a short warrenty......I dont know how.......but that warrenty is over. I think Apple would charge me to fix my iPod wouldn't they?

You can't get a short warranty. All iPods come with a one year warranty. Your iPod is still covered (as far as time goes) under that warranty.

The question is whether Apple will repair the iPod as you have voided the warranty by allowing it to get wet.

The problem isnt that you got your ipod wet. Search "0:00" and you will find a lot of people have the same problem including myself. My ipod worked great for a month then nothing. i would send it into apple but i hear they often charge you 100 dollers and send you back the same broken ipod.

That "100 dollar diagnostic fee" thing pretty much never gets charged, or at least I've never seen anyone report having to pay it. The only reason they'd send the same iPod back is if they couldn't find anything wrong with it, or it was noticeably physically damaged.

hey there!

OMG i totally have the same problem... this is my fourth ipod... i have had the old white one 2G and then 2 ipod minis and now i have the video ipod and all the same symptoms.. i was using my ipod in the bathroom and then i gave my self a facial and i went to bed shutting my ipod and all.. in the morning i went to go play my ipod and it didnt start and when i lifted it off the counter it was in water... i screamed! anyways.. as i live in DUBAI U.A.E where the normal temperature is 45 degrees i left it in the sun for 3 hours.. it was roasting and then the sad face came on.. and then the file icon came on and then the battery low icon came on and it just shut
anyways i put it more in the sun and then i plugged it into a portable charger/adapter and then the apple sign came on.. i was so relieved! accept all it does now, is stay on the apple logo... HELP ME PLEASE MY LIFE IS MY IPOD! (P.S Its a VIDEO IPOD 30Gega)
