2012 Macbook Pro 13" not charging past 99%

I bought a 2012 Macbook Pro (new, not refurb) in December however it doesn't seem to be able to charge past 99% anymore, also the first 5-6% rapidly dischargers (within 10 minutes of disconnecting the power cord) without any obvious reason as to why? If the laptop were older I would think that its just the battery reaching its life cycle but this definitely should not happen in a 4 month old laptop.

Has anyone else experienced this issue or would have any suggestions?

That is normal.

Battery may not show a full charge in Mac OS X

"If the battery icon in the Finder menu bar is set to show the percentage of charge , you might sometimes notice that the battery does not attain a full 100 percent charge when the power adapter is attached. This is normal behavior; battery life is maximized if charging is not continuously cycled on and off when the battery’s charge capacity is between 95 and 100 percent. When the battery level eventually drops below 95 percent, it will charge all the way to 100 percent."

Macbook Pro Users Guide

Reset SMC. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

Choose the method for:

"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".

Resetting SMC is the proceedure that will correct any anomaly in the reported reading of the battery charge level.

But you do not have to do it in this case.
