i feel apple is wrong not just to those of us who have been loyal to them since day 1, but even to those who just became apple users because this isnt our faults nor could we have prevented this problem from happening.. most people have to drive hours just to get to an apple store first off then they want you to pay 200$ for a replacement when its their faults how dare they!!! totally disrespect and its just not cool they need to do betta then what the **** they doing!!!

Thank you for long drawn-out and completely irrrelivant rant, but this is a support community, not a trolling forum, if you would like some help troublshooting your issue, then please tell us what your issue is besides iOS 6.1.3 Wifi problem. and before you go blaming Apple for your current issue, maybe you should have someone help you troubleshoot your device to make sure its not actually something to the effect of operator error. So like i said, if you would like some help troubleshooting the Wifi issue you are having, please provide an accurate description of the issue at hand, as well as some of the symptoms.

-Thank you,

Tom

@tbarrack1022: I think it's pretty safe to say that "operator error" doesn't apply in the situation being discussed here where owners of perfectly good phones lose wi-fi after upgrading to the latest iOS version. There's absolutely nothing they could do to screw up the process under normal circumstances. Apple *is* at fault, and the users affected by this issue have the right to rant if they wish, because it's now obvious that Apple won't fix the **** problem (just go back to page 1 of this thread and check out when it was created!)

One more thing: We all know that Apple products are notoriously overpriced, and many people agree to pay that extra cost because they want the best technology, the easiest-to-use interface, etc. When the provider of that technology stops supporting some users, and the best advice one get is "BAKE YOUR PHONE" then it's the beginning of the end. Is this a rant? Yes, and after giving Apple thousands of dollars for years, I think I'm entitled to. There's a small shiny chance that someone over there will read all these posts and feel ashamed, and I'll make sure I'm contributing my part.

Extremely disappointed and frustrated. After 28 years of buying Apple products and using them intensively for work and play, this is the first time Apple has truly let me down. I installed the iOS update, and a couple of weeks later, a grey wifi button and the option from Apple to give them $200 to get a phone that was great before the OS update they recommended to me.

Really?

FWIW, I have tried everything in the support doc several times, talked to an Apple support guy, restored my iPhone to new, taken it to the Genius Bar, all with no results. Since the freezer is a temporary fix, really, what's the point? I am considering paying someone to do the reflow. I looked at jailbreaking, but there seems to be no conclusive evidence that that will solve the issue.

I know I'm probably the 200th person to complain about this problem but I wanted to add my name to the hat, hoping to raise the number to draw some Apple attention.

My warranty on my iPhone 4s expired July 14. Five days later, I have a grey WiFi. I restored my phone...didn't help. I reset the network settings and it connected to WiFi...for like 10 minutes. All of a sudden, it can't find any Wifi hotspots. The wheel just spins and spins, but nothing pops up. I switched the on/off button a few times. Still no wifi. I turned off my phone and back on...WiFi button is grey again! On top of all that, my battery life has dropped substantially. I saw my battery drop from 100 to 59 in a span of 2 hours. I mean, what is going on??? Of course, I can't get a replacement because I'm just past warranty! Ugh. This is my 3rd iPhone...every single one had some kind of hardware problem conviently right after the warranty and I had to wait a year to upgrade my phone with AT&T. If this is an update problem, I refuse to buy a new phone. I hope Apple comes up with a fix ASAP or I'll have to switch to another phone.

Forget being the 200th person. There are nearly 100,000 posts related to this thread. I have followed every step and just spent an hour on the phone with Apple tech support. The end result? My iPad, which functioned properly before the software upgrade, can no longer connect to WIFI, and my only option is... drumroll, please... to purchase a new iPad.

Apple should be ashamed. They created a software upgrade that, in my case, disabled by device's ability to use WIFI. Judging by the 100k posts, I’d say it’s not a “rare” problem. It sure smells like an intentional flaw created to drive consumers to buy new devices. This has left a VERY bitter taste in my mouth and I now look at the Apple company very differently.

What an impressive lack of empathy you display.

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your armpits.

And, last but not least -- and certainly not worst -- may your WIFI go grey and may you be forced to shell out your hard-earned money to buy a new device.

Everything is not a simple fix. Most people DO try to go through all of the recommended troubleshooting steps, and most people DO call Apple and go through all of the lengthy tech-support guided steps. I did! And I'm still stuck with one option: Buy a new device.

it is not a hardware issue. a couple different employees at my local apple store told me "no way, it's software." I guess the memo did not make it to everyone in apple. Plus, way too many people had this happen RIGHT after the latest software update for that to be just a coincidence.

Lastly, funny how there have been no software updates for the iphone 4 recently, huh? Because that may fix the problem and then it will be obvious apple has been lying to all their customers and have sold who knows how many new phones to people who did not need them.
