Before you restore your phone, I suggest you transfer all your apps to your iTunes. This way you don't need to download all apps again. They're already on your PC or Mac.

Just right click on your phone name in the iTunes side bar, and click on "Transfer Purchases".

This way all your apps and music and etc are backed up on your iTunes library and you can easily restore all of them on your Restored phone or new phone.

That is good news !

But I'm afraid it won't last long. Give it 3 to 6 weeks before it greys out again.

Believe me, the only solution to this problem is hardware repair. I have seen the procedure. It takes less than 5 minutes and Voila! your wifi works again.

If you were going to do the hardware repair I suggest you to tell the technician to keep the chip in position with some extra help ! such as paste or sth just to make sure it won't disconnect again.

Your job is probably data entry

Retired from the Marine Corps, actually, and have a side job (not data entry, lol) to keep myself busy.

TJBUSMC1973 what you say is really funny that wifi issue is not sth that apple needs to deal with as it is not a safety risk!!

I never said they don't need to deal with it. I said it's a matter of PRIORITIES. 😉

Give your feedback at apple.com/feedback. Otherwise, you're just p***ing in the wind.

Learn to read, krash. You love to take my comments out of context. Never said Apple was perfect. I simply said they're followig the rules that the consumer agreed to, at time of purchase. Anyone that tries to change a contract after the fact is trying to scam the other party. In this particular case, it's not Apple doing the scamming. That conclusion is a result of LOGIC, not EMOTIONALISM.

Show me where Apple has broken a promise they made in writing, and then we'll talk.

My Iphones, 3GS, Wifi became weak after updating ios from 5.x to 6.1.3 and I solved with this:

Open the phone and press the Wifi antenna contact, marked 6. After that my Wifi worked significantly better. Something happened during the update from ios 5.x to 6.1.3, it became probably too hot so the contact lost the grip after cooling down or something, i think.

I have exactly the same problem. Phone worked perfectly until the moment I upgraded and from then onwards only get wifi at home or at work or anywhere when within 1 metre of the wifi box. I am 100% confident that the upgrade caused the loss of functionality in my phone. Contacted Apple and their response is that in the terms and conditions the customer agrees that Apple don't promise that anything you buy or they supply will actually do anything at all. Unfortunately the customer has no option to amend the unfair contract terms. Apple reps telling me the solution is to buy a new phone is particularly insensitive and irritating..... It won't be an Apple phone next time. Pure arrogance.
