Jul 15, 2013 5:25 AM in response to PatricJuelby rhh1,Just an update. Phone still works fine since I heated it July 1 & restored wifi/BT. Did not take apart. just a word of caution. I put it in sun screen down. There is risk of creating other damage by heating it, but, at this point I was ready to get a new phone & had nothing to lose. Phone was out of warranty & the "genus" at the apple store had run a diagnostic & deemed the phone having a hardware issue & wouldn't spend any further time on it other than say it would cost $200 to replace. Still believe it is a marginal manufacturing issue, either in transmitter chip itself or interconnect triggered by changes in firmware with upgrade. Will be interesting to see if this "fix" will last the test of time.

Jul 15, 2013 8:07 PM in response to PatricJuelby linuxology,This is a common bug with 6.1.3 that Apple is not looking to fix. I have the same issue. Guess you are just out for the moment at least. Competitor devices are looking extremely attractive at this moment. Very frustrating!!!!

Jul 15, 2013 9:36 PM in response to PatricJuelby apple_guy7,This was one of the big problems when iOS 6.1.3 came out. Here's what you do. Take out the SIM card of your iPhone, get a new iPhone, and put the SIM card into the new iPhone. The wifi problem is a hardware problem according to Apple, so getting another iPhone will fix the problem.

Jul 16, 2013 6:00 AM in response to PatricJuelby YRGDH,I did what apple suggested and reset my network settings a few times but that didn't work so i also removed my sim card. After rebooting my phone and putting my sim card back inplace my wifi works again and my battery is back to normal. We'll see how long it lasts but for now my problem is solved.

Jul 16, 2013 3:11 PM in response to PatricJuelby MsAnn123,I am on my second iphone 4s and it took approx. one week for the same problem to occur..greyed wifi and bluetooth not connecting. This time I am under the 3 month warranty. Not looking forward to wasting my time to go to the apple store again for the same issue and for the second time in under a month but happy that apple will be paying for the replacement this time. I still plan to change my phone to blackberry or droid when my upgrade is due because apple clearly has no problem charging customers for a hardware defect. Very disappointing!!

Jul 18, 2013 5:55 AM in response to krash357by tellhiggs,1. I powered down my phone & left it face down in my hot car for approximately half an hour.
2. I waited about five minutes for it to cool down, then turned it back on.
3. I then reset the network settings (settings>general>reset>reset network settings).
Wifi has been working perfectly since I did this 11 days ago!

Jul 20, 2013 10:09 PM in response to YRGDHby BoomSchtick,The sim card thing did NOT work for me, but baking the phone DID! I let it bake in the car for 40 minutes whilst buying my kids some shoes. Came out with the temperature error. Let it cool and BINGO! Hopefully it won't go backl

Jul 21, 2013 8:11 AM in response to rhh1by rhh1,It's now been 21 days since I heated phone & WIFI/BT still working. There could be some risk on screen life from heating up, but, if there was no progress from apple other than suggesting you buy a new phone there may not be much to lose by trying it.
