iPhone 5 won't wake up from sleep/standby!!

Hello, I am having a really strange problem with my iphone 5 for last 3-4 months. Sometime when i want to use my iphone from standby/sleep mode it dosent do anything! sleep/wake button, home button even silent/sound button dosent work. I know the silent/sound button dosen't work cause normally it vibrate when I turn it on. So the problem is my phone wont wake up from sleep/standby mode. The screen stays black and nothing works. If i press the home button and power button for 10-15 time very quickly, then it takes a screen shot and wakes up!! Sometime it stays in this stage for 5-10min.

So here is what i did to solve the problem.

1. I restore the phone from phone and ituens.

2. I delete all icloud backup and started as a new phone

3. I went to apple store and replace the phone with a new one!!

4. I jailbreak it at last to see if it solve the problem!

5. turn off the icloud to see if it works

And sadly nothing of all this solved my problem! Now im not sure any specific app causing the problem but it almost impossible to find it out. So if anyone have any similar problem or any suggestion to solve it, then it will be really helpful.

My husband and I are both having this problem with our iPhone 5s. Both on iOS 6.1.4 Mine is brand new fresh out of the box and my husband's is about 6 months old but he's only been having the problem in the last 3-4 months like you.

Like you, we find that pressing the home and power button together sometimes works as it takes a screen shot.

It seems to me that it might be a bug in the iOS software. You seem to have covered all other bases. I'd love to hear if you make any progress on this.

Hey guys,

Has anyone been able to work out a solution to this problem. I too am having the exact same problems and yes I am with Vodafone. This is my 2nd iPhone from the same problem and absolutely everything i'm trying just does not work and even the genious bar can't detect anything wrong with the handset. This is really frustrating.

Hey Guys,

I think I found a solution. My iPhone used to do this about 5 - 10 times a day with the Vodafone network. But 2 days ago, I went to the Vodafone store and just asked for a new sim card (I wanted to test that it wasn't the sim card causing the problems) and since then it hasn't happened since... I'll keep you guys updated if it happens again but by the looks of it, it seems as though my problem has been solved.

Went to Vodafone yesterday and replaced my Sim Card. Haven't had the problem since then.

Cool. I've had this replacement sim card in now for a couple of days and it hasn't happened since. So it seems as though a faulty Sim card or some sort was causing this issue.

I am going to try this too as this happens to me at least 10 times a day and like everyone else I have tried everything else. I too am with Vodafone.

Hi,

I too changed the Sim card, but unfortunately for me after a week with the new sim card the problem has come back. The change of Sim card has reduced the frequency of the issue.

New Vodafone sim made it worse I think instead of better, although its hard to tell because its all to unpredictable. I'm hoping the new iOS update from apple might fix it but I'm not holding my breath, the worst thing about this is the wear and tear on the home button which could break down and that renders it useless pretty much.

This is intersting.... When I got a replacement sim card it seemed as though it solved my problem. The issue didn't come till after two weeks. But up untill 2 days ago, it was working without a hitch. Its unfortunate that the new sim card didn't solve the problem because the problem is becoming even more frustrating! On a side note, I upgraded my iPhone to the ios7 beta, and guess what - the problem still occured! I really hope Vodafone or Apple releases a fix to this problem!

I too have changed my SIM and seen an improvement but it does still happen just not as often and I would say that the delay in waking up the screen when it does happen is not as long. So still hoping for a software fix one day from Apple.

I have been running the iOS 7 beta for a while and while not at first it seems that the problem has been fixed in later versions of iOS 7. The issues has not happended to me for a long time now. There may be hope on the horison for everyone.

It appears at least at this stage that iOS7 has stopped the problem, now I can stop thinking about my phone and start killing zombies 🙂

I am haveing the same issue with my 5s. Seems to be getting worse. I use Verizon in the US. I tried to replicate the problem at Apple store but couldn't. They told me to come back. Anybody have any other suggestions?

I have the same problem as robertso2020 on my 5S on AT&T in the US. They told me to back up everything and try to use the phone as a new one. Has anyone tried this before?
