hi I have been plagued by this recurring problem for ages finaly seem to have solved it by going to print when drop down page to print comes up click on box a top of page showing your printer from the drop down list go selsct add printer Another pop up box will highlight your printer and select IP at the top of the page. Then in protocol select Internet Printing Protocol - IPP which is the correct one for all modern printers. This resolved the problem for me after months of trying Richie

I just resolved this same issue. I installed a Samsung Printer Xpress M2825DW last night (okay I did it 4 times) on my wife’s iMac and it printed one page and then it would show up on the iMac as off-line (unless I plugged the USB back in). Even though I could print from my iPhone. I added the printer on my MacBook Pro and was pleasently surprised it worked and showed up as active, but not on the iMac when I disconnected the USB. I removed the printer from the iMac added it back in and now it shows up as active and works wireless. All fixed.
