Copy calendar event on iOS

This has been ask quite awhile back but is there a way to copy calendar events on an iOS device, i.e., iPhone? I've not found any way to do it so far except on OSx and then waiting for it to sync which does not help when you mobile. I have posted feedback to Apple incase it cannot be done.

I have the same problem which is why I came to this site for a solution. The best solution I've found is an app called "Fantastical". It allows you to duplicate an event and then move that event to another day/time. Fast and easy but pricey. It's $20. I think I bought it when it was on sale for half that. Two week demo is available at http://flexibits.com/fantastical

New options may be available with OS 7 but i haven't found it yet.

Amen to these comments. I think that it is a shame that the IOS calendar can not copy or duplicate an event, like the OSX does. I have many appointments that have a lot of info in them, and as soon as I get a new appointment date, such as a doctor appt., it would be so nice to just duplicate the event, and place the new date into it, rather than having to retype all of the info. I usually just ask for an appointment card, and then wait till I get home to duplicate the event in my Mac calendar. Not very efficient and not a good use of the technology.

I think the people who argue "why do you need it?" just seem contentious. I think the best argument is "Why not?" I'm not a big iOS jockey, but it would seem to be not that much to add, other apps can copy and paste objects that seem much like Calendar events all over the place. This is one of those Apple design choices I just don't grok.

And yeah, if you need to add in alerts, and repetitions, and phone numbers, and addresses, maybe invitees, it gets to be quite a pain to create an entirely new event, as well as allowing for errors (like in said phone numbers or address) to sneak in.

Yes, contentious, and I'm so tired of this. Since I got my ipad last year I've needed support from the Apple Communities at one time or another. But I know that when I come here to look up an answer, I'm going to find one or more overly- sensitive Apple users who start a fight instead of just answering the question. I haven't experienced this anywhere else.

For example, in this question someone asked how to copy a calendar event. They did not make any disparaging remarks about Apple products. But instead of saying that you can't do that, or here's a workaround, etc., the answer questions the need for anyone to do this. This should be a ridiculous answer, but no, other people actually chime in to support it.

Just answer the question. Or if it's a problem rather than a how-to, ask for more info if needed then answer the question. This is how support communities are supposed to work.

Timon,

I, too, have seen a need for this for quite some time. The solution, however, may already be embedded within IOS, which may be why Apple hasn't addressed this specific concern. Your best option is to:

1. Selected the appointment item/event and click 'Edit.'

2. Under the 'Repeat' option, choose to repeat the event daily for only 1 day.

3. Click 'Done' to save the updated event.

4. Go to the repeated event and click 'Edit.'

5. Change the date to the new desired date of the appointment.

6. Click 'Done' and when the IOS prompts you to save to all recurring events or only the selected event, choose only the selected event.

You should now have 2 appointment items/events with duplicate information (except for the date). Does this properly address your question?

I was looking for a way to copy recurring events that don't always fall on the same day of the week, and saw your suggestion. I noticed though that it took away the repeat event function for both the old and new event. Have you had this problem also?

I saw someone else comment on another board something about having to set the new event to never repeat before the 'done' and save for this event only, and then doing the same in the original event, but I haven't tested that...

Never thought I would read so much rebuttle from people for a simple request, just because they don't use the feature.

My children each have their own callender's and on my Mac, I copy and paste existing calender events with ease. It is so much easier to duplicate a calender event with all of the matching text and notes, and then just modify the date. Creating a new event on the correct date and then trying to go to the original event and do 4 or 5 element copy and paste is backwards.

CASE 1: My kids are on similar teams, or in the case with tennis, the same team. DUPLICATE, change calender, done! Same with practices. Then, when one of them has a schedule change, just their calendar gets modified as appropriate.

CASE 2: The repeat is not intelligent enough in some reoccurring features. Such as when I set up a practice which repeats Mon, Tues weekly, with details including location, time to travel etc. But repeats on Friday at a different hour. Much easier to DUPLICATE, with all detail, then just change time.
