apple tv itunes is currently unavailable. try again later

My AppleTV gen 3 won't let me play my purchased movies in the cloud 95% of the time. I tried the RESET solution but it only worked for the next movie i played. After that, the error message came back. Apple needs to fix this because I started switching over my video library to itunes-only purchases a couple of years ago just to be able to stream them one day. This is quite a bummer. C'mon Apple! I think a partial refund is in order.

Having the same issue here in Dallas tonight. Extremely frustrating to see there is no solution posted...just wait and see. Two part process Apple FIX & IT for good this time!

This happened to us tonight, only for one TV show. Resetting the Apple TVs or signing out and back in didn't work. We were able to get around it was to search for the TV show as if we were going to buy it again, then select it and it plays with no problem! Hope this helps...

Same problem, but only to certain purchased TV Shows. The ones that have more than 2 Seasons

Something magical and mysterious happened after I posted to this site: Apple TV started working exactly as it should. All of my Purchased items were available on Apple TV all of the time just as they should. I realized that Apple does not monitor nor moderate this forum but it sure was a big coincidence that everything just clicked when i posted here. PTL.

Mine is doing the same thing. I have one season of three shows and they all work but I have four seasons of one show and it doesn't work. I tried the whole reset and reboot everything twice but it doesn't work. This *****.

I have the same problem. Previously purchased shows are no longer working within iTunes on Apple TV 3rd gen. I bought the whole series of Battlestar Galactica and Lost years ago and I currently cannot access them. My other shows work though. This is very worrisome as these shows cost me a lot of money to buy.

Hey I contacted apple support and this was their solution: "I have found that you may be able to watch these episodes if you search them as if you were going to purchase them again and choosing to play them from there."

I know this thread has stopped for a while but all day today I have not been able to stream purchases. I've tried rebooting and searching for the item with no luck. I have been having trouble with my Apple TV ever since the last OS update. Anyone else having this issue today?

Me too. For the last two days. I have tried restarting and even restore to factory defaults. No luck. The sa,e purchased content works fine on my iPad, so I ended up watching the movie there.

Had the same problem for the last three days. Here's what worked for me. Log into "settings>general>network" signout then signin again with your same old ID and password. My purchased TV shows and movies then were available. Obviously the ATV server lost authentication with your account for whatever reason.

Change my last entry to:

Go to "Settings>iTunes Store>Apple IDs>sign out"

Then sign out and back in with your old ID and pass word. This worked for me.

I have two Apple TVs in my house, both give the error "iTunes is currently unavailable. Try again later." whenever I try to play back any tv show or movie that I have purchased (via iTunes in the iCloud). Strangely enough, I can playback any of my purchased content (tv or movie) using iTunes on my Macbook (via iTunes in the Cloud) (and, yes, same Wifi network). Also, Airplaying from my macbook to Apple TV give the error "iTunes is currently unavailable. Try again later."

i had the same problem. I fixed it by going into settings and signing into iCloud. This could be the same login info for your Apple account if you don't remember creating a separate iCloud account. But you must be signed into BOTH itunes AND iCloud.
