MacBook Air screen is flickering

Hi

My MacBook Air screen is flickering like it wants to go out. I don't know why it's doing this or what I should do to fix it. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Apple decided that, even though I told them it appears to be a software issue, they would replace the logic board on my 11" 2010 MBA. Needless to say, it didn't fix the problem.

This is something new:

Now, when it comes out of sleep, I get the flicking screen. When I close the lid and let it sit for a minute and open it again, I get a black screen like the computer is completely turned off. I let it sit for a few minutes and nothing happens. Close the lid again, let it sit and it finally comes back on. If is doesn't, I have to reboot.

This has been going on multiple times a day, every day, for over a month.

My MBA has the same flickering screen, close it and reopen lid until screen works

.

The first day it happened (Nov 2013): I was sending some emails from the road, linked wirelessly to my phones hot spot and closed the lid and placed it in my bag. Less than an hour later I pulled it out of the bag and the bottom was scorching hot! upon opening it the screen was almost all black except for a 2-3" circle in the center was dimly lit. It was a very cold day so I placed it on the deck of the truck to cool, forced a restart and all was good for the rest of the day.

Now: Opening the lid when on battery power and not connected to the wifi it flickers or black screen approximately 1/2 the time... cycle the lid and it comes back.

I only use it plugged in and connected to wifi at the office... never happens there

This is hurting Apples reputation. When I'm with a customer they notice my MBA, sometimes ask me how I like it.... then watch me open and close the lid for sometimes 2-3 minutes trying to wake it.

This morning my MBA was having a whole other issue; no applications were working and unable to connect to wifi. force reboot... Related?
