iTunes Library keeps deleting itself! NOT using a Vaio....

Help! iTunes Library keeps deleting itself, turning empty when I click it. I am well aware this happens to VAIO computers but I am NOT using a VAIO. This problem doesn't happen everytime I close and open iTunes, so I am not really sure what's causing it. In addition, a lot of random íT.tmp' files have been created before the itunes library turns empty. Plus, iTunes sends two files, ítunes library extras' and ítunes library genius', to the recycle bin. This started occuring to me randomly since 10/3 and I have not installed any new software around that date. I have updated. reinstalled my itunes and even my AV (AVG free) but to no avail. I have learnt that apparently some background processes have been interfering with the saving of the itunes library file.....is there a way I can find out which background processes have been doing so? Someone please help and thanks in advance.

I was wondering if you could help? I followed your instructions as I upgraded to itunes 11 and I wanted Itunes 10 back. I followed the other instructions to put the library back so Itunes 10 could read it. This worked fine until today when I started Itunes everything was gone? I checked the Itunes folder and the Library was there. I then said sync to Itouch and it brought this message up? Does this make sense?
