TV episdodes for purchased seasons have stopped downloading. Check for Available Downloads is broken.

Usually, I have an applescript that runs from the mail client to automatically check for available purchases whenever an email from apple is received stating that new episodes are available to download.

In the last week, this has stopped working, so I have been attempting it manually, but when I go to Store-->Check for Available Downloads... I get the message that All purchases have been downloaded for this AppleID...

I can also click the link in the email that says there are new episodes for my purchased season, but this does not download the new episodes.

I have had this issue this week with updates for 2 different TV seasons.

Obviously, something is broken.

I know that I can click on the store menu, click on the purchased link, click on the tv season, click on the option for not already on this computer, click on the tv season with new episodes, click on the download button for the new episodes to download...... but I don't want to do all of that.

If anyone has a way to restore the functionality of "Check for Available Downloads..." for purchased TV seasons, I would appreciate a response here.

A new thing I've noticed that I find rather annoying... I just went to the page for a show I have a season pass for, and the latest episode is there for $2.99. However, I cannot yet download it from my purchased tab, nor have I received any email telling me it's available, because... to me, it's not.

Seriously? Why are we, as season pass holders, having to wait longer to get episodes than those who haven't purchased it yet? At they very least we should get them at the same time, if not sooner.

Yeah, so far now all my shows have been automatically downloading... in fact I ended up having to delete double copies last week because I was so quick to manually start the downloads... so this week both my shows (only have two currently active shows now) Defiance and Switched at Birth both downloaded without me having to do anything other than open iTunes, so looks like its... on the way to being fixed, they very well might have listened to us!!! 🙂 Score!

Hi,...

I've had this problem for many months, even after email stating a new download is avaliable, the "Check for avaliable downloads" always says all purchases have been downloaded, and i must manually go to each show in iTunes and click the "$x.xx"-button; even for shows with purchased season passes.

I prefer to purchase shows and movies over cable-TV, but this is pretty annoying (and seems to be a long-running problem).

Any news from Apple regarding this?

Well, it seems to be working fine again for me, as I said above. Even now it still is. I am however actually a PC user, was just posting in this thread because this issue affected both Mac and PC users, but now it seems they fixed it for PC users, but not Mac users? If so that's pretty cray cray.

I don't see this changing. The way Apple has designed the system is that when a show is available, it should show up in your iTunes Library with a download arrow next to it. You can, at that point, either download the show or double-click it and watch it streaming instead. You can then either download the show or if it's a show that you don't want to see in your Library or keep, "hide" the show by deleting it from your Library.

Unless I've missed some announcement from Apple, they still haven't said that you can now stream a show or movie on a computer, in addition to iPads, iPhones and Apple TVs, but you can.

The email you get (if you do) when a show is available will now go directly to downloading the episode of the show you've purchased. I see "Check For Available Downloads" going away in a future release of iTunes.
