how to toggle between desktops (spaces) shortcut key

How would i go about assigning a keyboard shortcut to toggle between spaces? I know you can assign Ctrl + N (N= desktop number) to jump directly to a space, but there is no shortcut to SWITCH between spaces. I have a mouse with two thumb buttons, and in SL you were able to assign the 'switch between spaces' keyboard shortcut to a thumb button, and this would effectively toggle you between your desktops with 1 click.

This is a HUGE letdown in productivity and completely changes the way i use my mac. I liked being able to SWITCH between spaces with 1 click, and assing my second thumb button to show my desktop. I was able to hold down any window with my left click, and rapidly move that window to my other desktop by clicking my thumb button.

An alternative would be a keyboard shortcut to 'return to the last space/desktop', but havent figure out how to do that either.

I cant be the only one who works like this.

Hello, Eric, thanks for the reply.

What im trying to do is assign one mouse button to cycle through my spaces / desktops. For instance, if i have 3 spaces, clicking this one button would cycle me through desktops 1 > 2 > 3 > 1 > 2 > 3 > 1 > 2....and so on. Right now when i get to the end of my third desktop, i get a little bounce back eye candy. In SL the desktops would cycle back to the beginning, allowing you to cycle between all your desktops

here is another person looking for the same thing in Lion, in case im not being clear enough:

Thank you for the reply, but move left/right a space requires 2 different keyboard shortcuts, one to move left and another to move right. SL allowed one keyboard shortcut that TOGGLES between 2 spaces. What this allows is to map one of my two mouse thumb buttons to toggle between my spaces, and another to show my desktop. (my scroll wheel button shows all windows) - This Spaces configuration made OSX so much more useful than any other OS, allowing you to jump between desktops with 1 click, moving windows between desktop with a left button hold and a thumb click.

Right now i have both thumb buttons mapped to each of my two desktops, one to jump to desktop one and another to jump to desktop two. This not only wastes a button, but i have to think about the space im in before decicing which button to press.
