My Mactonish HD is now Untitled.

My Mactonish HD is now Untitled, I only have 4 options, download Mac OS X Lion, Safari for help, Time Machine and the Disk Utility.

MacBook Air, iOS 6.1.3

Please - what happened? "Didn't work" can mean many different things.


Did Disk Utility / Disk Repair run to completion?


In Disk Utility, could you please check if the drive has any data on it. On the left, click on Untitled, and check the info on the bottom of this pane. How much is used.

OK, 156 MB means there is no OS on that drive. So let's go back to your very first post. You need to select download Mac OS X Lion. (Not Disk Utility).


It appears that you erased the hard drive, so there is no OS on it, which is why you get the question mark. So go through the OS installation. First download the OS, then instal it.


After you have done all that and the computer is booted in the new OS, just change the name of the drive, by clicking on Untitled (under the icon) and typing in whatever new name you want.

My Mactonish HD is now Untitled.
