I have an iPad 4th generation. If I turn off sounds in settings>Facebook>settings>chat and message alerts I still receive the "pop" sound every time a new message comes to me. I have tried turning off all notifications in the notification center, and even if I turn the volume on my iPad completely off I still get the pop sound. Help?

I would check to make sure you haven't connected another app to Facebook, and that it's not Facebook that is giving you the sound. Also, a hard reboot never hurts.
I made sure to end all active sessions. I also have hard rebooted. Not sure why it is still doing it. It is only when I have the app opened. If it is closed the sound will not go off. Also odd that even with my entire device on silent AND do not disturb the sound will go off if the app is open and I receive a new message.
I got the exact same problem, can't figure out how to the turn the sound off and it's only when the app is opened. the sound will go off if I turn off the Facebook message notifications in Facebook itself, but that disables all notifications in Facebook.
