Logic Pro 9.1.8 & MOTU 896 mk3 Hybrid

Hi there!

Here's the situation :

I've plugged my MOTU sound card 896mk3 Hybrid on my MacPro (8-Core / 20 Go / OS X 10.8.3).

The sound card is plugged via Firewire 800.

As a Logic user, I couldn't wait to test this good sound card, then I opened a Logic session and change the Ins & Outs in the Audio prefs to choose the good ones.

Logic quits without any message, any "warning stuff",...

Then, I changed 64bits to 32bits.

Same situation : Logic quits instantaneously.

I've tested the 896 with iTunes or Quicktime. The soundcard is well recognized and perfectly works.

So, to resume what I've done :

- Trashed the Logic Prefs

- Re-installed Logic from App Store (last version 9.1.8)

- Rebooted and "alt-cmd-P-R"

- Updated the Firmware of the sound card (MOTU sent me the last firmware of the soundcard)

- Tried to use an other DAW (Digital Perfomer 8, and it works perfectly!...) or sound app (iTunes,...)

- Verified the sound card in the Audio/MIDI setup of the Mac.

- Checked that the MOTU Software has the same clock (44100)

- Verified and Repaired the authorizations

😢

And it still didn't work.

Then, I decided to create a new user account (Admin mode).

I re-started the Mac, opened Logic adn changed the Audio Prefs by choosing the Motu.

And Finally, it works.

Now, the situation is quite complicated because I really want to know what I can to use my Logic in the normal user account.

I've made a screen capture of the Console activity during the Logic crash and transmitted to MOTU.

I'm waiting for the answer...

Do you have any idea?

🙂

Thanks for your help!

Cheers!

Alex

You bought Digital Performer 8 to test your system? 😀

Try deleting the control surfaces preference.

Paste the line below in the mac menu GO / Go To Folder

~/Library/Preferences

Look for this file:

com.apple.logic.pro.cs

Delete it, it will be rebuilt next time Logic starts.

Ok, have to ask, have you installed any Less than Legal software.. this makes a difference and can cause Logic problems.

Thanks foor your quick answer!

Sadly, as I said, I've already trashed the Logic Prefs (and the com.apple.logic.pro.cs line has already been trashed and rebuilt).

I used to mix with Logic Control few weeks ago, that I don't use it by now. I've replaced it by a Euphonix system which is correctly recognized and setup.

About your question, I had installed a demo version of Largo and Lector Waldorf, but I don't use them anymore and they are not recognized by Logic as an active plug-ins. My system is clean and the authorizations repair is clean...

I think I'll use my alternative user account to use the MOTU, then.

😐

I'll inform you later.

Thanks again!

Hi there!

So, after re-installed my applications (Logic Pro) and checked all the third-part plug-ins, I've decided to use the new user account with all permissions and authorizations validated.

It's a very strange situation because I don't understand where is the problem on my account...😕

So now, I use the new account and everything is fine. Logic and DP8 are both ok with the Motu.

Some news later,

Cheers and Thank you for your answers!!
