Someone is reading my text messages without having direct access to my iPhone4.

Hello- my ex-husband is somehow getting my text messages and is reading them. After coming home today and talking to him he mentioned my friends' names (some of whom he has never met) and bits if information and conversations with them that I have only had I've text message. After doing some online research I need to reset my phone I think. I went to the reset option and it keeps telling me my password is incorrect. Now my phone won't let me try anymore password attempts for another hour. I have tried every password I would have originally set up and none have worked. I need help. This divorce has been very contentious and evil. How is he doing this? How can I stop it? Thank you.

He must be referring to iMessages, not text messages as in SMS/MMS.

Do the friends he has never met have an iPhone, iPad, or Mac with iMessage enabled?

If so and you and your husband shared the same Apple ID or iTunes account, this is why he can see your iMessages which are being kept in sync with the iOS device or Mac he is using.

Sign out of the Apple ID with iMessage at Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Apple ID. Select the Apple ID and at the menu window that appears, select Sign Out.

Create your own Apple ID and log in with iMessage with your Apple ID.

I think because you guys are sharing apple id.

When you get your phone running again. go to settings - message - send&receive - remove the apple id.

Hello Momof2inPA and Katina Ann, I have a question to confirm the problem, Is he still can get every single "new" messages?? Because there has a way can allow him to access your data without your permission is if you ever backup your iPhone either by iCloud or iTunes, if he can get the backup file and an iPhone no matter is old or new he can restore your backup file on any iPhone so he can see everything include phone's history and message's history before the day the backup file saved, but if he can still get any "new" message then I suggest you erase your iPhone and create a new iCloud account and DO NOT sign in any account related the old iCloud account and do not plug-in any computer which is not the one you trust by USB.

I would like to keep follow this question to help you out this strange problem

I have the same problem, did you ever find a solution? We don't share an AppleID or Family Sharing, I even have ICloud turned off on my phone, but somehow he can see ALL my text messages, phone calls, photos. This includes friends with iPhones and Androids. Please help Ive spent countless hours on the phone with Apple Support and they have tried everything.

Thanks for the answers. We do not share apple IDs. He has an android phone I think- definitely not an iPhone. How do I reset my password to reset my phone? Thanks.
