iPhone4 won't sync and hasn't since 10-9-12

My iPhone 4 has not 'sunk' since 10-9-12. I have looked and followed the adivce of several people online. I have updated my computer software to Snow Leopard, restored to factory settings, turned off the apps in the cloud and tried to sync, deleted my last sync (so now I have nothing), and anything other idea I found on the internet. My husband's phone, he has the 4s, and both of my boys iPads are working perfectly fine. This is so frustrating!! Help!

The message this time said, " The iPhone "my phone" could not be synced because it could not be found."

That usually means you have a defective usb cable. Try a different one if you have one. Also try gently brushing the dock connector at the bottom of your phone with a dry, clean toothbrush in case it's just dirty.

New cable, brushed the dock connector...Now we are back to the message of 'could not because an error occured.'

Try clicking Back Up Now on the Summary tab to see if it will back up successfully.

Since it doesn't seem to be able to back up you could try going back to Preferences>Devices and deleting your other backups to see if an existing corrupt backup is preventing it. But this is really tough to diagnose and fix without a more specific error message ("an error occured" doesn't give you much to go on).

You may have to make an appointment with the Genius bar at a nearby Apple store and take both your iPad and your computer in to have them take a look at things to see if they can find anything wrong.

I deleted the other backups and still got the same message. Thanks for your help today and suggestion to visit an Apple store.
