I have an ipad 2 and I want to update to iOS 6.1,3 but when I pressed software update it is stuck on checking for updates what do I do

Same here. Having the same problem. I go to settings on my iPad air and tap on software update. The icon then spins endlessly never returning any results. Power's connected to a/c. 100% battery. Current version is 7.0.4

Because even i am facing the same issue and not able to update my iPad via OTA method, but yes i can update the OS through iTunes successfully.
Gave up. Attached my iPad to my iMac, updated through iTunes. Went back to iPad settings, Same prob.
Was really hoping the update would fix iMessage, FaceTime, Notes and email but I guess my hopes were set too high to get this brand new iPad Air 128 to work like it's supposed too.

Try restarting the iPad by holding down the on/off and the home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo.
Ok I tried it I pressed software update nope still nothing
Isn't there a way to update it with a computer because I am just new to apple and all but I have a computer with iTunes on it.
If you are jailbroken by any chance, the software update will never work since JB disables that from working. It will just spin.
