How on earth do I remove photos from my phone!

I have 1600 photos on my iphone. All have been synced with itunes and iphoto! Now when I turn off sync photos for iphoto in itunes (wow thats a line full) the photos still remain on my phone! There is no select all under the photo edit button, so without going a screen full...25 at a time, there has to be a way to remove these!!

Help!!

On a Mac you can use Image Capture. On Windows you can just open the Camera Roll on your desktop; it looks like another drive.

To delete on the iPhone a little more easily view the Camera Roll rather than individual images, tap Select, tap a bunch of images, the tap the trash icon.
