why isn't my Apple Care plan updated on the Apple website?

I just purchased a "used" iPad 4th Gen from a trusted person and she told me that she bought the item in January 2013 along with the Apple Care plan at the retail store. However when I enter in the serial number of the iPad into the Apple website's warranty checker, the "Estimated warranty date" lasts for only 1 year: January 2014, rather than 2015 as it is supposed to be.

Is anybody else having this problem? Thanks for all your input.
