The powercord hiss on my MacBook is extremely loud, and also the cord and ac adapter box get extremely hot. I have an external thermometer situated on top of the ac adapter box and it quickly maxed it out, meaning it's over 130 degrees farenheit. Is this happening to anyone else?
Here's an audio recording of the hiss if anyone is interested:
Me too, but it is very quiet. It goes away when photo booth is open. I can only hear it if I put the adapter right up to my ear (same with where the adapter plugs in)
Right now I'm using a grounded MagSafe brick, and mine does a quieter sizzling as well (I can barely hear it when it's next to me in my whisper-quiet room, but it's very audible when I put my ear next to it). It's pretty much a normal temperature for a power brick. The sizzling actually got louder when I opened Photo Booth, although the CPU whine went away...
My MacBook is quite the defective computer - the previous owner had the heatsink replaced for RSD, it has the squeaky hinge on the right side, it has *the whine*, and now this. I just got it used on Friday! Should I call AppleCare for the hinge and sizzle? I have over 2 years left of the APP.
