Why can I not receive a FaceTime call when my iPad is asleep?

When the cover is on my iPad I do not receive FaceTime calls. What is the solution please?

Hi soontoberetired,

The tech wasn't differentiating between the Wifi and Cellular models, and should have been. As deggie indicated, the only "component" that would make a difference here would be the cellular one.....and you don't have that, so it should have been made clear that your iPad can not be awakened for FaceTime calls....

Cheers,

I am not a participant in the inuendos exchanged by the two of you. I am happy to have my iPad working as it should and am happy that you have gained some new information regarding this technology. Without your encouragement, if I had accepted the word of the first technologist, I would still be without the ability to communicate with family via FaceTime. (However, if I had accepted your statement that once asleep, the iPad is incapable of receiving FaceTime calls, I would still be hooped.)

Hi there,

My 'alreadyretired' mother has been having the same issue you did with her iPad not alerting her to incoming FaceTime calls when the cover is closed, although it always used to ring regardless of that fact.

I wonder if you would be so kind as to provide a 'step by step guide for the already retired' of how you fixed the issue? The bit I'm not clear on is "turn the Notifications FaceTime off". Did you do this in >settings>notification center or somehwere in FaceTime itself?

Thanks so much.

The reason for this problem can be even simpler: if an iPad user accidentally turns on "Do not disturb" mode (with a button with C-moon sign, located on a bottom control panel, the same panel where "Flight mode", "Wi-fi" and "Bluetooth" indicators are at). If you do not receive Facetime calls, ensure that you have "Do not disturb" mode switched OFF.
