Find my Laptop from my Phone? (says it is "offline")

i feel like i have tried to read up on this eight or nine times and was looking at this again today.

is there a way to find my MACBOOKPRO or my Mac Pro from my IPHONE 5?

i have icloud set up on all my devices and i can get on to iCloud and see my iphone from my laptop (for instance) but when i try and log in to ICLOUD WEBSITE from my iPHone it asks me if i want to set up this device.

if i check in Settings > iCloud i see that i am in fact logged in.

if i click on the APPLICATION on my iPhone it shows me my PHone ("this device") but it says that my Laptop and my Desktop are "offline" even thought they are online (for instance i am posting to this forum now...).

can anyone help me with what i am missing here?

thanks

thanks a ton again. sorry for the confusion. i find this whole iCloud deal uber confusing.

There's a simple answer to this. Find an Apple store close to you or an Apple Certified Service Center and ask them if they have any classes/seminars you can take for iCloud use and the Mac/iPhones in general. Even BestBuy will put together some workshops for this sort of thing. Go sit in on one of those and learn that way... you may get it better if someone does a show and tell for you rather than trying to make sense of it by reading docs on the matter.

thanks. this is actually a really helpful suggestion.

unfortunately i have had it up to my eyeballs with iCloud and just spent the better part of three weeks troubleshooting with advance tech over the phone and via screenshare a Contacts corruption issue with slightly less than 1000 contacts (there were a different amount of contacts on all three devices) - which i have either been ignorant of or been ignoring for the better part of a year.

this means that every time i went in to PROOF my contacts over the course of this year the time was basically wasted (or worse i lost a bunch of contacts). this was apparently a system level data corruption that i had no control over. and this was after getting a bookmark sync issue resolved and turning off every sync except those that were absolutely necessary for me.

i mean, i love Mac OS but at this point i need to just get things turned on and move forward...

hi SJF, all.

i got almost all of this completed but i see today that i still don't have the Mac Pro hooked up. i am still getting this issue of Lion Recovery Partition required and the links here have almost no information:

the Mac Pro (Lion) says "recovery partition required"

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1464 Maybe this will help.

am i missing something in thinking this should have been included in any updates? i am on 10.7.5 but cannot upgrade to ML due to old firmware or something or other with this model. software update says i am up to date on this computer.

thanks!
