Mountain lion mail set up

is there a way to set up mail in mountain lion like iOS? I ask this because I have no problem with my mail on my iPad with my works exchange. I just assumed that the macbook pro 13 retina would act the same way. I took my new 13in macbook to work the other day and tried to set up the mail and got an exchange server error. I called tech and they said they wouldnt set up a personal computer to their system and that macs basically were a pain in the ***. So what I am asking is there a way to set up mail in mountain lion like the ipad that lets me get my exchange email.

Thanks

Let's see what we can discern here.

Open Mail, Contacts and Calendars (located at System>Preferences>Mail Contacts and Calendars)

Select a new Exchange Account:

User uploaded file

You will get this dialog box:

User uploaded file

Fill in your name, email address and your password.

If your company's Exchange Server is correctly configured you should be then connected, then it will ask if you want to setup Contacts Calendars and Tasks, if you do then say yes.

If instead you get asked for server addresses and so on you will need your IT Dept's help.

Thanks for your help. I didn't realize that there was a big difference in the activesync and such. I would be much easier if they both used the same. I just wanted to be able to get my e-mail on my mac in real time and not have to log into a separate website.

O well I guess I will keep my pc running at work and my ipad at home to get my e-mail.

Thanks for all your help.
