check how many MP3's will fit on CD prior to burning

Since MP3's are converted to audio in the process (I don't want to burn an MP3 CD), is there any way of knowing in advance how many songs will fit before burning?

I am doing some mix CD's for people and I don't want 16 songs on one and two on another.

thanks

Most CD's have 80 min worth of space, but some have 74 min. Usually this info is on the package. What I do when burning a playlist is check the bottom for how many long the playlist is. If you're using an 80 min CD, and the playlist is over 1:20:00, it most likely will not fit. I try to stay under about 1:19:50, because if you're really close to 80 min, it might not fit. Hope that helps.

P.S. If you click on "Burn", iTunes will tell you before you burn if you can't fit all your songs. If it doesn't tell you anything, all your songs fit on one CD.

That's great thanks all.

Thing is at the bottom of ITunes it uses a decimal to describe the minutes which seems a bit odd - .1 is 6 minutes if my maths serves me right, so for an 80 minute disc I should be able to manage 1.3 Hours.

Also, I don't really understand if a disc has 800 meg of space and my 17 songs only take up 105 meg (as it says at the bottom), why one can't put a lot more on?

thanks again
