Unable to remove Exchange Account

Hello,

I'm here at a customer of mine and have a problem with a users iPhone 5. The user has an Exchange account on it but it doesn't work. I want to remove that account and create a new one but i can't.

If I go to Settings -> Email, Contacts... and then select the account nothing happens. The selection stays blue for about two minutes and then it goes back to the start screen. Software version is 6.1.3

What could be the problem of this?

iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.3

I have recently encountered and solved the following issue: Not been able to sync exchange office 365 E-mail with Iphone 5, and not being able to delete the E-mail account under Settings>Email, contacts, calender>delete E-mail account> STUCK AT DELETING

Our customer have a office 365 E-mail account and we are not able to remove the account itself from the iphone.

To solve this problem i did the following steps:

  • Log on to the office 365 mail portal with the user E-mail account
  • Click on the little gearwheel up in the right corner and choose "Go to properties" I believe it's called in English.
  • Click on the option on the left panel that says Phone.
  • Remove all profiles related to the phone.
  • Restart the phone by simply turning it off and on.

Now you should be able to remove the E-mail account under Settings>Email, contacts, calender>. Hope this helps, not sure if this works in a none-office365 network environment.

Sorry for the bad English!

Hi,

I fixed it after log in the OWA, manage devices and then remove all Iphone entries. After that, even so I was unable to remove that account. After change the DEFAULT EMAIL ACCOUNT to another one and restart the Iphone, I was able to remove the account and set up it again.

* I tried the 'tip' to change the settings/info regarding the old account in a way to create again a new one with all settings - but no success.

tks,

This was the solution. The OWA is the missing link.

I had two exchange accounts on my phone and the problem was with both of them. I don't know what happened to corrupt the communication between the server and the phone, but logging into OWA, clicking on Options, then Phone, deleting the device from the OWA account allows the user to delete the exchange account from the phone.

Then, reload the accounts, and voila! It's back working again. At least now I have a troubleshooting procedure to follow! Thanks, leffeloket!

I just had the same problem but found a solution.

I fixed it without doing a total wipe.

  1. In OWA(Outlook Web Access), Options, Mobile, I deleted my iphone profile
  2. Did a hard reset of the iPhone
  3. Went to settings, mail, selected the Exchange account and Deleted the profile- it worked and didn't get hung up.
  4. Reinstalled Exchange Email on the phone.

Not sure if the above did the trick or if I got lucky.

Thank you, makis1985!!! I'd been fighting this problem ever since working for a client who put their Exchange email account on my iPad, which changed the Passcode requirements (no "simple" pass codes, must change periodically, etc.). I had tried to change the Passcode settings and delete the email account, but nothing worked. I had searched for a solution before, but had found none. Then I read your post, which explained that all this is controlled by a Profile, which had been placed on my iPad, unbeknownst to me (I didn't realize how this worked). All I had to do was remove the profile and voila!! Problem solved. I then was able to change the Passcode settings and restore my device to the way I once had it set up. Thanks again!
