It seems my iCloud email address is shared by someone else. I am getting their emails, and hate to think they are getting mine. How can I check the exclusivity of the iCloud email address?

I am receiving email belonging to someone else. It appears that the iCloud email address I was allocated is used by someone else, and I hate to think my email is being received by them. What's the way to have Apple iCloud check and see that only one recipient gets an iCloud email address? Thanks, John

This is not a hacked account issue. It seems that this a common issue for many... Apple Mail Engineers, Please Do Something!!! With each iteration of Apple's cloud services, the domain changed. i.e., @mac.com, @me.com and now @icloud.com. It seems Apple's original plan or thought was to let you own the account name across all domains. So, your.name@mac.com will also have the option use the newer @me.com and @icloud.com accounts at the same time (why?). With millions of devices being activated around the world, it seems some already established accounts like your.name@mac.com were allowed to be activated as new accounts under your.name@me.com or your.name@icloud.com by other new iCloud users. I'm having the same problem with my email account and my son's email account. In both cases, the second user is based in Europe (we are in the USA). I've set all my devices to strictly use the my.name@mac.com account. In iCloud settings, I see the option to also use the @me.com and @icloud.com addresses. From time to time, I get emails sent to the my.name@me.com. This is very nerve racking because you don't want to get caught with your pants down or feel that someone other than the NSA is watching your email traffic. We can only hope Apple knows about this and has a way to differentiate accounts via another authentication key assigned to each of your devices. Good luck guys.

The fact that this thread has traffic with several users reporting the same issue, supports the idea that there is something wrong with the mail system. I'm not suggesting that I am the expert at this. I was just stating my experiences and theory of why this might be happening. You are right, as I stated your.name@ is suppose to be the same account across the 3 domains. But for some reason, a second or third party can also configure their account to match "your.name@". https://www.dropbox.com/s/1nxcqcxllzmzo7i/Tom%20Taylor%20_%20Travel%20Insurance% 20Confirmation.eml In this email, the other person using the same account name is @me and I am @mac. I have received several emails meant for the other person over the past year and they are not spam. So please Level 7 help us shed some light on this quirky behavior in apple mail.

The most probable explanation is that the other person has given out your email address in error, either because he's mistyped his own or because he is an idiot who thinks he owns it (this sounds bizarre but it does happen). As a result he is not receiving the emails - you are - and he can't access them or your emails.

There are two things you can do. You could email one of the people who are trying to email him and tell them about this - of course they can only warn him if they have his physical address.

Or if his actual name is given you may be able to set up a Rule or Rules to move these messages to the Trash where you won't be bothered by them.

It is not possible for two people to have two different iCloud e-mail addresses that are the same. MacHeadVB is absolutely wrong that different forms of these addresses (@mac.com, @me.com, @icloud.com) can be different... they are not. They are all simply aliases for one particular address.

You are simply receiving mis-addressed e-mail, either because the other person thinks (incorrectly) his/her iCloud address is the same as yours, or because of a simple typo that someone has made in entering the address. See Roger's response above.

Have you had any success resolving this issue? I also have started receiving emails for someone else on my icloud email address...confirmation of utility payments, ticket purchases, even correspondence from the Navy! I contacted Apple and they said the address is registered to me and suggested I try to find him to advise. The utility company doesn't give out that information and the reverse number look up doesn't bring him up. Other than that nothing they can do! Did you get anywhere with your issue?

I am having the exact same issue. I contacted Apple and they told me to change my password. I told them that i was not hacked... someone else IS sending out emails but not receving. (i can see this as i am receiving all the responses to the emails they are sending)

Judging be the last post here... no one has a solution. THANKS APPLE!!!

Hi, I'm not sure if I should start a new thread about this but I am having the same problem. I have just received a phona call from another woman with the same name as me. It seems we both also have the same icloud. email addess. i.e firstname.surname@ icloud.com.

She told me her email was set up in the apple shop about two years ago. I set my own up through my Iphone when I purchased it about a year ago.

Apparently, this lady has been recieving some of my emails, which is how she had my phone number, but worryingly, she has had emails for a THIRD person with the same email, who obviously runs a business, as this lady has had emails detailing bookings and payments people have made to this third person.

What can we do about this? This is a SERIOUS breach of privacy issue, surely Apple have some responsibility for this? I have several email addresses with Google, Virgin but not once have I ever been allowed to set up an address that is already in use by someone else.

Obviously, I can change my icloud.com email address, but how do I know im not getting ANOTHER one that doesnt already belong to someone?

Any help appreciated

@mac, @me and @icloud addresses that are identical prior to the @ sign are the same addresses. Post a link that supports your claim that they are not please.

I just got off the phone with someone else who has my SAME icloud email address. I tracked him down through the emails I am receiving. We are both stateside and unknown to each other (or at least before now). He confirmed he is receiving his mail, but I am also receiving it (starting last week). He SAYS he is not receiving mine. The addresses ARE exactly the same. As much as I'd like to think so, this is NOT as issue of mis-addresed email. Apple...SERIOUSLY?
