The issue is that many people automatically forward mass mailings that can contain worms/trojan/viruses - whatever - in the attached files. I experienced such a thing many years ago, when I accidentally forwarded the klez worm, nested in an attachment, to a friend.
Whoops.
It didn't do me any harm but oh brother, my friend was not happy. 😟
I have already answered why I asked this question in my answer to a previous post:
The reason I asked the question "Why would I need protection against Windows viruses on a mac ?"
is because of the statement Electricidad made that said:
Everyone requires protection against windows viruses to prevent being host to them and enabling their spread.
Which this statement is confusing as a mac computer ( at the moment ) can't get viruses.😕.
And yeah, watch out for the trolls..
I do try and watch out for trolls as much as I can.😝.
Some just seem to manage to slip through the cracks.😟.
Thanks everyone for all the good information.
You're welcome.
bitfinder is pretty good
but the entire system is pretty slow

Middle of the road, actually: Mac anti-virus testing 2014. There are much better ones available.
That you are still suggesting third-party solutions says that you have not internalized the rest of the discussion on this thread.
The gist of the other suggestions say that the anti-Virus built into Mac OS X is superior, and MUCH less intrusive and disruptive than third-party solutions.

Those two couldn't possibly be related, could they?
Bitfinder is a game. Bitdefender is useless. The one thing they have in common is to waste your time.
