magic trackpad keeps disconnecting

My Magic Trackpad keeps losing its connection. On and off...eating the batteries, I may add. Fresh batteries are in it now.

I've tried the "Favorites" trick in the Bluetooth window, but no luck.

It started doing this when I turned on the computer ealier this week; after holding down the cneter of the Trackpad, it kicked in, but now it doesn't.

Am I the only person in the world with this issue?

The Trackpad had been working fine for over 2 years.

Thanks!

iMac i7, Mac OS X (10.6.2), 8G RAM

I saw somewhere a reference to other bluetooth or wireless items in the neighborhood of the magicpad. I think this may be part of the problem. Yesterday I was experiencing the problem a lot while I had another laptop open receiving WiFi. At the moment it's off and my cell phone is away and I haven't had a problem all morning. If that applies, you might try moving things away or shutting them off just to see what happens.

I was JUST about to make a post about this. I've had mine for over a couple of years and it's been working just fine. Just recently, I've noticed when starting up my computer, it won't pair. At this moment, the computer won't even find the trackpad now. I'm really disappointed. I actually really like using the trackpad and I don't know why it suddenly won't work. I just put fresh batteries in it too but still nothing.

Are you guys saying that just the presence of another bluetooth peripheral (keyboard or trackpad) may be causing this problem?

My environment is that I have a new, unused wireless keyboard and a new, unused trackpad in the next room to where my iMac is located. I've never paired either of these with with my iMac.

With my iMac, I use a wired keyboard, and wireless magic mouse.

I'mnot sure . . . In my case, it's an old Fujitsu laptop that was on yesterday and I was having consistent problems and now it's off and I'm not. So, if I pay attention I may find that's it. I've been using both for the past two years and it's never happened until a couple months ago, so it's something to do with a new OSX update, i'd assume. I have a wire-connected keyboard, so I can't be sure if other Mac bluetooth products would have the effect, but I'm ready to believe it's the presence of a foreign WiFi laptop that's interferring.

I've had a magic trackpad for a few years with no problems. Recently it started the constant connect/disconnect routine too. I had recently replaced some Duracell batteries in the device with some off-brand AA batteries that came with my Comcast remote (Golden Power batteries) that I hadn't previously used. The battery level indicator on my Mac showed they had sufficient power (83%), but when I replaced them with some Kirkland (Costco) batteries, the trackpad paired immediately and has worked fine since. My advice is to change battery brands and try again, especially if you are using an off-brand.
