How is someone I know receiving my text msgs?

I found out last week from my girlfriend that her husband is receiving my text messages on his iphone/ipad. I have an iphone 4 with os 6.125. I upgraded to 6 from 4.3 in february. tonight, I also noticed that text threads that I had with her ex husband were deleted from my phone and I am not sure what else

.

I realize imessage is the new change to my phone but i never gave anyone my apple id and pwrd. what other possibilities are there for how he could be receiving my txt messages?

when you enter someone elses apple id and pwrd on a phone that ALREADY has an apple id and pwrd, what happens? do you just see all the text threads blended together in one list? or do you have to alternate between one apple id and another? would he have to re-enter my apple id every time he was looking at my text msgs? or do all of the messages come in simultaneously (his and mine at the same time)?

If I gave you my apple and id and password, would you be able to remotely delete text threads on my phone? or was someone deleting them for me from my iphone? what else can you see or access on my phone? I was able to confirm there was no jailbreak on my iphone.

okay just to be clear...i am not giving anyone my apple id or pwrd. it was for the sake of example and clarity. my girlfriend has a flip phone - not an iphone. Her ex has the iphone and ipad. they are divorced and not sharing anything.

Do not give your ID or password to anyone on this forum or elsewhere. My guess is that your girlfriend and her husband are sharing the same apple ID so they both get messages sent by you to her. Your girlfriend needs to change settings on her phone

Most likely your gf and her ex both have iOS devices which have the same Apple ID receive setting for iMessage.

On your gf's phone:

Settings > Send & Receive > You can be reached by iMessage at > select Apple ID and sign out > Sign in with different ID than the one her ex is using on his phone.

(This is her EX-husband. Right?)

If your GF isn't using an iPhone, the text messages are sent as SMS to her unique phone number (not an email address) and can't be received on her ex's phone. The only way he can see/receive them is if he has cloned her phone or is breaking in and reading them on her phone.

BTW, there is no "iOS 6.125".The current version is 6.1.3.

lol sorry modular... ur right, i know 6.1.3 - lol - idk what i was thinking! lol

no. she doesn't have any apple id or any iphone.

he was receiving MY txt threads from MY iphone (not just txts btw her and I - they were texts btw me and all the ppl I txt with)

If you are sending group messages, somehow his cell number or Apple ID is being included. Check the entries in your Contacts for your GF. Send only single recipient SMS, and only to her cell number.

Well, if he knows your AppleID and Password, and he signed off his AppleID and signed on yours, then he would be able to get your messages and everything else associated with your AppleID. If you think that is what is happening, change your password.

No - only one AppleID can be signed on to the phone at a time. So, if he signed off his Apple ID and signed on yours then it would only show your stuff. If you have iCloud, then he would also have to sign off iCloud and sign you Apple ID on there.

The real question is - did you give him your AppleID and password? If you did, then change your password.

Even if he had your AppleID and password, he wouldn't be able to see your texts to your girlfriend if she doesn't have an iOS device.

Yes, I am sure. Only one AppleID can be signed onto a phone at any given time. And without him having your AppleID and password, there is no way he can sign it on to his phone. So not understanding the direction of your questions?

then itunes

my apple id appears at the top with no option to change it. where in the settings do you change the apple id assigned to the phone?

i guess thats what i was trying to learn from you. my girlfriend told me he had all of my text messages.

There is only one way that it is possible, and we have discussed it already. The only way someone would be able to have all of your text messages would be for that person to be signed on to an Apple device with your AppleID and password.

There is no other way that he would have access to your information (unless your phone is jailbroken - if it is, then all bets are off). From the Apple Support site warning against jailbreaking:

iOS is designed to be reliable and secure from the moment you turn on your device. Unauthorized modifications to iOS ("jailbreaking") bypass security features and can cause numerous issues to the hacked iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, including:

With this security removed from your iOS device, hackers may steal your personal information, damage your device, attack your network, or introduce malware, spyware or viruses.

That's pretty much it....

Even if he has your Apple ID, he could only see your iMessages, not your SMS messages to your girlfriend. Another possiblity I don't recall seeing brought up is that her phone is hacked and he's getting them that way. Or, he's not actually getting them at all, merely saying he is to make both of you upset.
