Redirecting to api.mybrowserbar.com and Slow internet

I don't know if this related to.. but since I upgraded my imac to OS X 10.8.3 (12D78) I started having problem with slow response even for very basic functions but mostly I experienced a very slow Internet.

If I have my iPad nearby and I'm working on iMac and an email arrives, my iPad is notifying it and iMac takes few MINUTES more to do it.

I've noticed that quite often my search or browsing is redirect to api.mybrowserbar.com or error is notified "http://api.mybrowserbar.com/cgi/errors.cgi?ct=15&type=dns&ccv=158&q.

I realized something was wrong and made a search about this "api.mybrowserbar.com" and found this is considered a malware but nobody knows much about it and how to remove it especially froma MAC.

Looking for help. thx

I was also having the same problem. I travel a lot between Canada, US, Middle East and Asia. So, I just changed the DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

it resolve the issue.

Browsing speed all of a sudden is great.

Questions:

1. Would this have kind of disable/render non-functional api.browser malware? Or, do I still need to do the safe boot and try to delete it?

2. Would I need to give these DNSs on each wifi account I log on to?

Thanks

Update July 2014: In Chrome settings, Extensions, mybrowserbar wasn't listed, but an unknown thing was, whose description matches the behavior others have described:

Domain Error Assistant 1.4

This extension saves you time by providing relevant search results instead of an error page

I disabled it and instantly the problem was gone. So, it appears that the scumware had just retitled itself.
