My ipod touch 4th generation says to connect to itunes. I did, and it says I have to restore my ipod for it to work. I have about 6,000 photos on there that I do not want to lose. What do I do?

My iPod touch 4th generation says on the screen to connect to iTunes. When i connected it to iTunes, it says i must restore my ipod for it to work. However, I have over 6,000 pictures that I've taken over the past two years that i do not want to lose. What do I do? I already tried resetting it by holding down the home/power button, that doesn't help.

Make a backup with iTunes to secure your photos. Then restore your iPod. After that, restore the iPod from backup. (Not as a new one.)

Elitegate, the poster siad his iPod has the Connect To iTune screen, You can't backup the iPod when in that mode.

How do I back it up? it says i cant do anything til i restore it

You can't back up an iPod that has the connect to iTunes screen.
