Bioshock 2 HD 4000

Hello I just purchased Bioshock 2 for mac, i've played it on my previous Imac but for some reason on my macbook pro there was really weird lines on my screen and pixelated colours showing up in game like someone has broken the screen display :S have no clue what it was never seen anything like it.... there was white patchy thick lines across my retina screen :S so I turned V-sync off and that seemd to fix it, then i went back to the menu and the same thing happend again? is it possible the graphics card is not supported? and has it damaged my intel HD 4000?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

Intel GMA is NOT an Intel HD. Intel HD's are built directly into the Intel CPU where as Intel GMA was a separate chip, I believe on the north bridge. An Intel HD 4000 can play many games at 720p or 1080p at low or even sometimes mid settings, including Bioshock, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Rift, World of Warcraft, etc. That screenshot says GMA is not supported. Intel HD is a lot better than GMA. Having said that, a modern dedicated graphics chip is usually better. However, many will compare the Intel HD4000 to the Nvidia low end mobile chips, like the 330M, 430M, 630M, etc... both being similiar in performance.

Most likely your issue is driver or settings related. I would recommend setting up a small bootcamp partition with Windows XP, Windows 7 or Windows 8 to play the game. It will run much better on Windows, and you don't have to rely on Apple for a driver. You can go straight to Intel.com and obtain the latest graphics driver.
