problem scrolling pictures

HI, I have an IMac 10.6.8. Having an unusual problem just when I'm on Pinterest. As you probably know, on Pinterest you can just scroll and scroll down looking at various pins and pictures in a certain category. I can scroll quite a ways down but only to a certain point and then the trouble starts. There is a delay when I scroll. I'll be using the mouse to scroll down and nothing happens and then that circulating colorful ball shows up and I can't do anything. It takes forever for the ball to go away and then I can scroll a little ways again but then it stops and the ball shows up again. Does anyone know why this is happening and if there's anything I can do about it? I hope I've explained it correctly. Many thanks.

1. How much RAM do you have? (Go to Apple Menu / About This Mac).

2. Does the problem happen when you are using Safari?

Have you cleared Safari History?

3. Have you tried another browser?

In answer to your questions:

1 - the processor - 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 duo

the memory - 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

2 - yes, I've been using Safari. I have tried emptying the cache and resetting safari.

3 - I have not tried another browser, I don't know how to switch browsers.

Suggest you do the following in Safari:

1. Go to History in the menu bar and select Clear History.

2. Safari in the menu bar, and select Reset Safari.

See if that solves the problem.

You can use another browser anytime you want. In fact you can have a number of them if you want. I like to use this one:

p.s. You should also consider increasing RAM. But that involves getting inside your computer. Are you comfortable with that type of task?

I don't think that will solve my problem because I clear history from the menu bar daily and I reset safari on a regular basis.

I will try using another browser.

Actually I have been thinking about increasing RAM because I was told I need to do that in order to upgrade to Lion. How does one go about increasing RAM?

Adding RAM:

If you want to DYI, there are many guides, including videos, to help you. Here's one, although I'm not positive it is the model you have, this will give you an idea of what is involved.

I would still recommend you increase the RAM. You will be very happy with the performance boost.
