I have a 3rd Generation Ipad that went in a recovery mode and whenever I try o restore it, its getting stuck at firmware restore and giving me an error code -1.
any help or suggestion to resolve this is highly appreciated.

The first question is whether you are using the current version of iTunes to recover your iPad. The current version is 11.0.2. If you don't have it, download it from:
