Ipod touch storage question
My son is trying to download Fifa 13 onto his ipod. It has 8gb, it says 1.8 available. The game is 1.48 but it says 'cannot download you do not have enough storage'. What shall I do?
iPod touch, iOS 5.1.1

Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Delete what you don't need.
Thank you. He deleted some apps and now has 2.4gb available, but the 1.4gb game still cannot download. Do you need some sort of margin of storage?
I believe the iPad needs approximately 2GB for the operating system.
Diavonexwhat are you talking about? The storage available reported by the iPod is what is available to the user, the iOS takes ups the storage between the advrtised cabacity and the capacty listed in Settings>General>About>Capacity. For a 8 GB iPod the uses has 6.4 GB avaialbe for use.

To download and install an app the iPod needs storage available equal to about three times the file download size. For your app you need about 4.5 GB available to install directly on the iPod.
If you sync from your iTunes library less storage available is required
You should be able to download with 2GB+1.4GB=3.4GB
As I said in my previous reply, you need about three times the file download size to idirectly install an ap on the iPod. For a 1.4 GB app that requires 4.2 GB available.
I do not understnd your math. The posters say " now has 2.4gb available"

Thanks to both of you. I understand the issue better now. We'll delete more stuff and see how we go!
