I have done absolutely everything I could come up with from these forums to connect my first gen ipad to multiple devices and not one thing has worked. I need new ideas. I consistently get error 43 saying that it can't install, can't be recognized and USB device unknown.

What devices are you trying to connect it to? You can connect your iPad to a computer for syncing and sharing an internet connection. You can, with the help of the Camera Connection Kit, connect your iPad to a camera for the purposes of downloading pictures from the camera. That's about it.
Do you have itunes installed on these devices?
What version of iTunes is on your computer? Has it ever connected?
