Why would an iPod go into "Recovery mode"?
My sisters iPod says it's in recovery mode. She "doesn't know" how it happened. Any ideas?

if you do a hard reset while connected to itunes, that might activate recovery mode.
Sometimes it happens during an update or trying to restore the device.
If you get specific error messages/codes in iTunes when updating/restoring, check this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694 for causes and solutions
If you're not able to restore the device, you should use: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
Using that last article will erase everything on the device, so make sure you have a backup!
Good luck 🙂

Connect the iPod to your computer and restore via iTunes.
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
The iPod went into recovery mode because the iPod encountered an error.
The device is already esentually erased. Yu can't gt sat any data on the iPod.
